soothing aromatherapy bath sachets
(Makes 10 bath sachets)
Dial in a Mood
Planning ahead for multiple opportunities to relax, we created a base recipe that provides enough material for 10 bath sachets. Customize each individual bath depending on how you feel, or want to feel, by adding the essential oils to the salts before you hop into the tub. Put together a sachet or a mason jar full for a hostess gift.
1/2 cup rolled oats, ground
1/2 cup milk powder
1 cup baking soda
1/2 cup coconut oil
5 cups epsom salt (coarse grain)
2-1/2 cups kosher salt (coarse grain)
1/4 cup Himalayan pink salt
10 drawstring organza bags (4 1/2” x 7”)
5 drops rose essential oil
5 drops ylang ylang essential oil
8 drops lavender essential oil
2 drops eucalyptus essential oil
4 drops lemongrass essential oil
4 drops bergamot essential oil
3 drops frankincense essential oil
7 drops rosemary essential oil 3 drops peppermint oil
To make moisturizing bath biscuits, combine the rolled oats, milk powder, and baking soda in a medium bowl. Add the coconut oil to the bowl. It works best if the coconut oil is solid and at room temperature. Cream together the coconut oil and powdered ingredients with a wooden spoon or spatula until thoroughly combined. It will look like pie dough. Turn the dough out onto your counter and flatten until it is about 1/2 inch thick. Either cut into 10 pieces with a knife or use a cookie cutter to make into shapes. Allow to dry for several hours or overnight.
For a salt mix designed to detox and sooth your muscles, combine the three salts in a large bowl and set aside until ready to use.
To divide into individual portions, use a small bowl to combine 3/4 cup of the salts with desired essential oils as indicated in the column at left, or create your own signature scent combination. Pour into a drawstring organza bag (or make your own bag) and add a bath biscuit. Alternately, add the essential oil enhanced salts and moisturizing biscuit directly to your bath while water is running.
We love adding rose petals to the “Soothing Bath” and lavender buds to the “Relaxing Bath.” The splash of color and extra layer of scent enhances the sachet especially if you are gifting it. Capturing the mixture in a drawstring organza bag also eliminates the need to clean flowers out of your tub so you can keep relaxing after the water goes down the drain.
